In most of the houses where I work, I begin with the bathroom. Then I do the bedrooms, the living room, and finally the kitchen. When it comes to cleaning my own house, I can't do it the same way, because at a job I'm there to clean and nothing else. Here at home I have to make food. After work each day, I make dinner and pick up the kids. The youngest boy goes to soccer practice on Mondays and Wednesdays. Then I bathe the children and get them ready for bed. Then I go back to the kitchen and clean up so that it will be ready for the next day. My friends tell me, "Go work at a restaurant or a factory. There you won't have to work so hard. The advantage of cleaning houses is that I can take my children to school before I go to work and pick them up afterwards. I studied in a beauty school in Mexico. I was trying to find a place to study here, but the classes are during the day. I think that maybe when my kids are older, maybe then I'll do it: study at the beauty school. -Agustina Photos and text from the forthcoming book "Cleaning: People Talk About Housework"
